Polonus held its annual meeting and exhibition at WESTPEX 2023 entering no fewer than 11 exhibits in competition and comprising 59 frames. This was over a quarter of the total number of exhibition frames and the most by any participating society. Polonus members certainly struck gold earning nine Large Gold or Gold medals, plus many society awards!

Wiestla Kosta’s exhibit,“Kingdom of Poland – Study of Rates for Stampless Mail 1815-1871” was honored with a Large Gold, and more importantly, the Westpex Reserve Grand and Polonus Grand Award for the Best Multi-Frame Exhibit.

Among single frame exhibits, Ronald J. Klimley’s “The 1924 Polish currency redenomination – from the Polish Mark to the Groszy” earned a Large Gold and Polonus President’s Award for Best Single Frame Exhibit. Both the Polonus Grand Award and President’s award were hand crafted and decorated wood boxes. Along with many special society awards, each of the Polonus exhibitors earned a special Polish medal.

The exhibition also included Court of Honor exhibits from Dr. James Mazepa and Dr. Edwin Andrews. Andrews was also one of the distinguished panel of judges for the exhibition. The table nearby summarizes the Polish exhibits at WESTPEX. The full palmares can be downloaded from www.westpex.com
