As part of our ongoing efforts to highlight the “Gems of Polish Philately”, we have just added the a page on the famous Gniezno “5” inverted overprint. After the Second Republic was reconstituted on November 11, 1918, there are seven provisional issues during this period in Poland. Of these the Second Poznań issues (the latter known as the Gniezno issue) is the most controversial. Within this is the famous and also widely forged red “5” inverted overprint.
